Middle school photographers from Fordland will have their work featured at Springfield’s First Friday Artwalk Friday on April 1.  Nearly 100 framed photographs depicting Fordland and the surrounding community will be on display that Friday evening at the Park Central Branch Library on Springfield’s downtown square.  Julie Taylor Jones, art teacher for Fordland R-III Schools, spearheaded the project, funded by a grant from the Rural Schools Partnership’s Conco Community Arts Grant Program.

“I am very much looking forward to April’s First Friday Artwalk and want to personally thank CONCO for supporting  the arts in rural schools,” she said.  “My students are literally beaming with pride.”

Julie Leeth, Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ executive vice president, praised the students work:  “These are really outstanding photos; many are of professional quality.  They truly capture the rural-ness of Fordland and  serve to create a sense of place.”
